Water Effects

Water effects can be very expensive. I spent $30 (3x 16oz packages) on the Dagobah diorama for swamp water. There are two products I debated on. I originally chose to use Woodlands E-Z Water. This was an unfortunite choice because it has a bad habit of shrinking as it dries and hardens causing cracks. No amount of melting fixed it. If you are going to do a model and need water let me save you about $30. Don't buy EZ-Water.

As I was getting ready to go do CIII, I kept looking at my model thinking I need to fix the cracks in the water. After hours of frustration, I took out a hammer and a screw driver and chiseled all the EZ-Water out. It felt good to get rid of that stuff but it left me without water. After asking around, I came up with the idea of replacing it with Clear Casting Resin. The resin was a good choice because, unlike EZ-Water that has to be heated up and can melt my X-Wing, Casting Resin is mixed with a hardening agent so no heat is required.

To use casting resin, I took a measureing cup and followed the instructions on the side. You will measure out the resin and then add a few drop of the hardening agent based on the amount of resin you are needing to use. Clear Casting Resin is available at most craft stores and is available in a variety of sizes.

Clear Casting Resin was used on the Dagobah Swamp Model.
