I have come to grips with the fact that my TK armor will never be 100% screen accurate but I still enjoy finding reasonable tweaks that will take me just a little bit closer.

There are a variety of common ways to attach the thermal detonator to the belt: velcro, snaps, bolt, rivets, etc. Another not so common way is to use holster clips. As you see in the picture above, the screen worn thermal detonator was attached to a set of clips and then those clips slid onto the belt. In the tutorial we will discuss adapting the FX armor to use clips.
You may have already assembled your armor and attached your thermal detonator so you will have to adapt this tutorial to your solution. You can mount your detonator on just the clips and have them be pretty secure to your belt or you can take the safest route, like I did, and bolt it all the way through the belt.

I use to have my thermal detonator just mounted to the back of my belt via a bolt that went through the back of my belt and into a nut mounted on the inside of the detonator.

Before gluing my detonator together, I cut holes in the center of the mounting brackets of the detonator and glued down nuts on the inside. I then drilled holes in the belt to match the detonator and bolted the detonator to the belt.

Having come across the site mentioned above with the picture of the Thermal Detonator Clips, I bought a set of 7/8" x 3-3/8" holster clips from the Leather Factory (Belt/Holster Spring Clip ).

To adapt the brackets, I straightened out the clip with a ball-peen hammer so it would lay flat and drilled holes to match those on my belt.
With the bracket clipped on the belt, I reattached the bolt to the detonator.

Done.
