X-Wing's Crash Landing

Making the Model

Installing the X-Wing is rather simple. You just need a jigsaw, drill and a LOT of hot glue.

Lay the X-Wing out where you want it on the plywood. Take the guns off the end of the wings and trace around it.

Cut the out the outline with a jigsaw.

With a little paint the landing site is starting to come together. Needs something though... oh water!

For effect, I added LED landing lights to the x-wing toy. In this picture they are on the bottom of the wings. I didn't like that so I actually drilled holes (see arrows) and installed the LEDs in the wings.

After getting the lights installed. Time to set the X-Wing in its slot and place blocks or clips underneath it to hold it up.

This is after I added the "water". To simulate water I used Clear Casting Resin. You can find Clear Casting Resin at most hobby stores. For more detail on creating water see my tool review of Clear Casting Resin.

This is a nice shot of the X-wing in the "water". The refection of the lights off the water and ripples really give this an authentic look.
